World Book Day 2019 with Andy Seed
One of the most-anticipated and enjoyable days in the Bosbury School calendar occurred once again on Thursday, and this year the school's magnificent array of young book characters were in for an extra special treat as Gloucestershire-based children's author Andy Seed came to join us for a World Book Day to remember.
A school hall packed with the colours and imagination of a wide range of fictional characters (it just gets better and better every year!) enjoyed hearing all about Andy's travels as an author and the books he has written, with some very lucky children even getting the chance to win one of his fabled moustache pencils!
Each class then had a special workshop with Andy throughout the day with Key Stage 1 being involved in some great storytelling role play as Andy then went on to tell some rib-ticking jokes and pose some very tricky riddles to our Key Stage 2 book characters - staff were very impressed with some of their answers!
What loses its head in the morning and regains it at night?
Andy also kindly took the time both during lunchtime and after school to sign some of his books for our children to buy and enjoy at home.
And as for our amazing children themselves? My goodness, there were such a wide variety of characters from a range of series and genres on display!
We had the magical studious pupils of Hogwarts (check out some of those truly spellbinding hairstyles!)...
... the rather-easier-to-spot-than-usual Where's Wallies...
... a selection of traditional Roald Dahl classics...
... some more recent offerings courtesy of David Walliams...
... as well as a whole array of other varied and colourful characters across the weird and wonderful world of fiction. So many in fact, that here are just a small selection - many other characters can be found in the Gallery section of the website HERE!
Of course, it just wouldn't be World Book Day at Bosbury without the staff getting in on the act as well! Do you recognize some of THESE familiar faces? Some of them are very well disguised indeed!
A huge thank you to Andy Seed for coming in to share his work with us, to all of the children and staff for getting fully into the spirit of this special day and of course to all of those hardworking mums, dads and grandparents who no doubt endured several stressful hours on Wednesday evening working on sewing machines, frantically searching through the backs of cupboards and wardrobes, hurriedly ringing round friends and neighbours to borrow last minute accessories or even making last minute eBay purchases in order to make sure their children's costumes looked as splendid as they did!
Goodness me, how ARE we going to top this for World Book Day 2020...?
Oh, the answer was a pillow by the way!
