The Herefordshire School Games Virtual Festival of Sport!
We hope you have enjoyed participating in the fortnightly lockdown PE activities provided by Stride Active as part of the Herefordshire Virtual School Games initiative over the last two months. Apologies that we fell a little behind with the last two activities, but hopefully you still had time to have a go at them!
Rather then setting a new activity for the week beginning 29th June, Stride Active and Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire are holding a whole week-long festival of different sporting and physical activities!
An ongoing dance activity will be taking place throughout the week, with a different sporting challenge taking place each day. There will be a tennis challenge on the Monday, athletics on the Tuesday, rugby on Wednesday, cricket on Thursday with a final basketball challenge on the Friday.
All you need to do to is record your result for the PRIMARY challenge that day (there's even a daily INCLUSIVE challenge you can try as well if you really want to push yourself!), and then submit your entries via the forms which will be made available via the links below. Demonstration videos for each activity can also be found by visiting the other set of links shown below. Why not get a parent, sibling, other relative who lives with you or your pet (well, if they're clever enough) to film you completing the challenges as well and sending your videos in to school at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com as well so you can be featured on the school's Twitter page?
The Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire website will be staging opening ceremonies at 9:30am daily for each event with warm ups and good luck messages, with results needing to be submitted by 4:00pm each day (12 noon for the Friday basketball challenge) with the winners being announced online at 5:00pm each day. A closing ceremony will also take place on the Active website at 2:30pm on Friday.
Good luck Bosbury athletes, and let's see if we can get our school's name up in lights for the Virtual School Games Festival! There are even certificates available for you to download if you do manage to complete the challenges!
Please see below for details of what you need to do in order to complete each daily activity, including the week-long dance challenge which requires you to choreograph your very own dance routine based on your experiences during the last two months of lockdown caused by the coronavirus outbreak! Particular equipment should not be needed - for the rugby challenge for example you could just use a rolled-up pair of thick football socks as a stand-in for a rugby ball! Be creative!
