Bosbury Superstars Shine Outside of School!
At Bosbury we love to hear about what our pupils are up to and achieving outside of school, so you can imagine how pleased we were when we got to hear about the extra-curricular activities of five children in particular since Christmas!
Firstly we have the young man above from Class 4 who in 2018 began his first year of competitive motocross racing at the age of just seven. He competes by riding a 50cc petrol engine motorbike around an adult dirt track in the Auto category against a field of 39 other bikers consisting of children between the ages of six and nine.
He had an incredible first season finishing third in the National Championships, and due to his focused, tenacious and explosive racing talent, he has finished the year with three sponsors: Lee Durham Racing, Bavenhill and Kennedy. He has also become the youngest member of the racing team LDR which is one of the top five training teams in the country, and he is now even ready to move up a racing category and ride the Husqvarna 65cc 'geared' bike - usually only reserved for 9-11 year olds!
During December, he began his winter training with LDR spending several weekends travelling to larger tracks in Doncaster. He will then travel to France in February for further training before competing in Ireland later in the year.

Goodness me, this young speed demon is going to need a bigger trophy cabinet this year if this amazing success continues! Good luck in 2019 from everyone at Bosbury School! How about combining motocross with your excellent piano-playing skills as a strong contender for Bosbury's Got Talent champion this year...?
Next up we have these two keen trail runners who recently finished first in the Under 11 Boys and Girls cross-country race event The Winter Warrior Series run by Pulse Events at various venues around the local area such as Brockhampton, the Wyre Forest and Dudmaston.
The series comprised of four 2.5 km runs which they both completed in excellent times. The young man from Class 5 pictured above ran the final race last Sunday completing it in just 10 minutes and 34 seconds, while his sister in Class 3 finished in an impressive 13 minutes 37 seconds. Very well done to these budding athletes - they should find the daily mile run at school no problem at all this year after their superb performances in these gruelling trail events!
And finally, a huge well done to the two very talented young ladies from Class 4 and 5 shown above (can you spot them in the group photo?) who put in a sterling performance as part of the singing group who performed with great energy and enthusiasm in the recent Ledbury Amateur Dramatic Society (LADS) production of Alice in Wonderland at The Market Theatre in Ledbury. The pantomime also featured some fantastic performances from past Bosbury pupils Ryan Eames as the hilarious Joker and Edie Harris as the mysterious caterpillar who transformed into a beautiful butterfly on stage!
Well done girls, you were absolutely fantastic and you must have been exhausted doing nightly performances after busy days at school! They even got Mr. Ponter up on stage during the community song for a rendition of I'm a Little Teapot, although sadly no photos of this performance seem to exist... or do they?
Have YOU done something amazing outside of school recently? Please let Miss Spence know. We love to hear about what our talented pupils are up to outside of school be it in races, swimming pools, cubs, scouts, theatres, public events, dance halls, gymnastics competitions, story-writing contests, quizzes... just about anything! Photos and information can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
