Dear me, where DO we begin with this particular gallery? We had an extremely positive start to the 2019-2020 academic year as Emmanuel, headteacher of our Tara Link School in Rwanda paid us a very special extended visit, getting to work with our pupils in all kinds of lessons and activities in school, including accompanying Class 2 to Puzzlewood as Class 5 again braved the early hours to travel to the capital once more, this time becoming young journalists at the headquarters of The Guardian newspaper before touring the Houses of Parliament.
Several successful sports competitions at John Masefield High School, a trip to The Commandery in Worcester for Class 3 to re-enact the final decisive battle of the English Civil War, a wonderful Key Stage 1 Nativity of Everyone Loves a Baby, a brilliant Class 4 trip to the Roman Baths in, well, Bath, several imaginative class assemblies, a visit from Green MP Ellie Chowns and even a whole school climate change strike around Bosbury then followed, before the year suddenly ground to a screeching unprecedented halt as, for the first time in its history outside of holidays, teacher training days and heavy snow days, Bosbury School had to close completely for the foreseeable future as the COVID-19 pandemic began to wreck havoc in the UK.
From mid-March until the end of the school year, home learning became the norm for most of our pupils as society was forced to adapt to a new way of life in only being permitted to leave homes for shopping, essential supplies and limited exercise, even if by the beginning of June we were able to welcome limited numbers of pupils from Reception, Year 6 and those of key worker families to an altogether more restrictive school environment.
We all longed for the days of regular lessons, school trips, productions, church services and other events, but little did we know it would be at least another eighteen months before full normality returned!
