Headteacher's Welcome
Hello and a very warm welcome to the website of Bosbury CE Primary School.
We are nestled in a picturesque rural conservation area in Herefordshire in the shadow of the scenic Malvern Hills, just four miles from the popular market town of Ledbury and a short distance from several surrounding villages.
Our school is open to pupils from 8:40am to 3:20pm (32.5 hours) during the school day, with wraparound care running from 7:30am to 8:40pm for breakfast club, and 3:20pm to 5.30pm for tea club. Wraparound care is open to all year groups including Reception, while pupils in Year 1 through to Year 6 can enjoy a wide range of after school clubs which run for six weeks each term, 3:20pm to 4:00pm.
Our pupils have the advantage of learning at the centre of a rural farming community, and we are lucky enough to have our beautiful village church situated directly across the road where we hold regular collective worship assemblies led by our Reverend and School Foundation Governor Dr. David Gifford, as well as our special annual Christingle and Easter services.
We are a welcoming, all-inclusive school where every child matters, focusing on the specific needs of each and every one of our pupils. We offer exciting forest school opportunities, with our own sizeable forest school site located at the top of our school field and three qualified Forest School Leaders, with recent years seeing the addition of a greenhouse to support gardening at school, as well as a beautiful new school pond inhabited by our very own resident school duck!
Bosbury School has an extremely strong musical and art influence, with music in particular being a huge strength. Our award-winning choir and brilliant drummers are often seen performing at events such as church services both at Holy Trinity Church Bosbury and Hereford Cathedral, the Pyramid Prom at John Masefield High School, and the Malvern Three Counties Show.
Sport is another Bosbury hallmark, with our sizeable school field which we share with the historic Bosbury Cricket Club providing huge scope for all kinds of sporting activities and endeavours which often translate into success at local tournaments. Just last year, our Year 3 and 4 cricketers and Year 6 tag rugby players scooped silverware both at the Eastnor Cricket Club cluster schools competition and the Westons Tag Rugby Festival at Ledbury Rugby Football Club.
Our daily Mile Run around the school field also helps keep our pupils' stamina in top condition, while our swimming sessions take place in two-week blocks for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 at Ledbury Swimming Pool.
We offer a broad curriculum with plenty of opportunities for learning outside of the traditional classroom environment, including various trips throughout the year as well as our ever-popular three-day residential visits for Year 3 and 4 as well as Year 5 and 6 pupils to Malvern Outdoor Elements, and several other outdoor learning providers around Wales.
