Year 5 Maths Whizzes do the Biz!
Well done to the four clever Bosbury mathematicians shown on stage below who each received a special certificate for taking part in the Year 5 Maths Challenge at John Masefield High School.
The maths whizzes had to put their number skills to the test as the Bosbury values of perseverance and resilience were demonstrated in huge amounts as they tackled a variety of taxing problems and challenges, including these Countdown-style number teasers which the children found the most challenging out of all the questions posed during the competition. Answers on a postcard please!
Use the numbers 100, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 8 to make the target number of 601.
Use the numbers 25, 2, 4, 5, 7 and 8 to make the target number of 395.
Use the numbers 75, 10, 5, 6, 1 and 3 to make the target number of 554 (solution with Rachel below).
You can use any of the four operations of +, -, x and ÷, but remember that you can only use each number once. You don't have to use all six numbers.
Well done to the four Bosbury maths whizzes and a special thank you also to Lorna Jessop who very kindly gave up her working day to take the pupils to and from the competition and for taking the above photos. The huge amount of help we receive from our lovely parents is always very much appreciated at Bosbury.
