Key Stage 1 Enchant and Entertain in Double Nativity!
A HUGE well done and congratulations to all of our brilliant Key Stage 1 children this week after they put on FIVE separate performances in the first ever Bosbury School double nativity!
All of our Year 1 and 2 children took to the stage first as they put on three superb performances of Children of the World, where they told of how different countries around the world celebrate this very important event in the Christian calendar.
The angel Gabriel sent her fellow angels to different places around the globe such as America, Australia, Poland, China, Eire and Malawi, and after children from these countries explained the different customs which they used to celebrate the birth of Jesus, they were taken by the angels to visit the stable itself in Bethlehem where they all gave their own unique gifts to the newborn baby king.
The children showed superb confidence in delivering their lines, producing some beautiful singing and superb dance moves to the over 60s audience from the village whom Class 2 had personally delivered invitations to, as well as during the afternoon and evening performances the following day where the Australian song in particular proved to be a popular choice for the encore!
A big thank you goes to Mrs. Wilesmith, Miss Cooke, Mrs. Fitzpatrick, Mrs. Dark and our trainee teacher Miss Beech for all of their hard work in stage design and for bringing out the best in such a talented group of children who truly grew in confidence during each performance. We cannot wait for what they are all going to produce when they are in Year 6!
It was then the turn of our Reception children to entertain as they put on two dazzling performances to the whole school and then to their parents and some special little visitors from Jack-in-the-Box in the first ever solo Class 1 nativity.
Our youngest children showed amazing confidence with their terrific singing and very clear speaking as they told the story of An Easy Cheesy Nativity, which followed the tale (or that should be 'tails'?) of three Bethlehem mice who are disturbed one night by several animals visiting their barn such as sheep, cows and horses, who are looking for 'someone special'. All the mice want to find is some cheese, but they soon end up discovering something much more important as the shepherds and wise men then visit the baby in the manger.
It was a wonderful performance by such a talented group of four and five year olds, and we're sure that the song We're Looking for a Little Bit of Cheese went round in the head of many a nativity goer for several hours afterwards!
Well done to the Class 1 team of Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Fitzpatrick, Miss Fisher and our other trainee teacher Miss Padden for all of their hard work in putting together the first ever Class 1 nativity!
Finally, we mustn't also forget about our even smaller children next door at Jack-in-the-Box who put on a magical nativity of their own in front of a packed-out crowd of parents and grandparents over at Bosbury Village Hall.
Such an outstanding and confidence performance from Jack-in-the-Box's youngest group of children yet, some barely two years old who showed amazing bravery getting up on stage in front of so many people, was followed by a bring and share Christmas party lunch and a lovely performance of Little Bo Peep by the Sea Legs puppet theatre.
Well done to all of the staff at JITBX for all of the time and effort they have put in to enable such a young group of children to produce such a fabulous show!
Christmas time is now most definitely ON at Bosbury!
