Happy 50th Birthday Bosbury School!

Bosbury pupils and staff were in a celebratory mood on Wednesday as a very special tea party was held on the Key Stage 2 playground to celebrate the monumental milestone of the school's 50th anniversary!

Guests included parents as well as village residents who had been specially invited by Class 1 after they delivered invites personally through their doors, and they got to enjoy some wonderful and quite emotional celebratory singing from all of the children while enjoying some lovely tea and cake in the summer sunshine. It was actually a lot warmer and more pleasant than the dark cloud in the photo above would have you believe!

Many parents also enjoyed reminiscing over days gone by as they viewed a lovely nostalgic display of class and sports team photos from the last five decades of the Bosbury School archives which had been organized by resident school and village historian Miss Cooke.

Of course, no celebration in such lovely weather would be complete without lots of ice-cream and lollies to enjoy afterwards courtesy of FOBS!

A huge thank you as always goes to FOBS for organizing the event with brand new cups, saucers and cake stands as well as some lovely new table cloths provided by FOBS joint chairlady and seamstress extraordinaire Mrs. Bailey, and also to Mrs. Kaye's son and the Bosbury WI for providing the cakes for the event. Thank you also to Miss Cooke for putting together such an interesting display which even went back to including photos of the old girls' and boys' schools of the earlier part of the 1900s as well as including trophies and cups which have been awarded annually over the years.

A final thank you goes to all of the teachers who have been practising the 50th anniversary songs with their classes over the last couple of weeks and as always to Mrs. Walker for conducting the performance on the day.

Have you bought one of our brand new 50th anniversary celebratory tea towels again courtesy of FOBS? Hundreds were sold at the tea party and many more will still be available after school next Thursday - a bargain at £6 for one or £10 for two!

The tea towels are adorned with the year of the school's anniversary as well as superb little caricatures and signatures done by every single child in school!

Finally, the whole school also had a photograph done together on the school field on the morning before the tea party to celebrate the occasion of turning fifty - look out for it soon as it marks the first time a photo of the whole school has been taken since the year 2000! As you can see below, Class 2 enjoyed the experience so much that they decided to bravely climb up the very tall scaffolding once again to have another picture taken!

Happy Birthday Bosbury School, and here's to the next fifty years! Goodness me, what WILL the school look like in 2068 I wonder...?
