Goodbye and Good Luck Year 6!

We waved a very sad goodbye to our fantastic group of Year 6 leavers on the last day of term as they prepare to leave Bosbury for the big wide world of secondary school.

Unusually, only six of the children above have been with the school since they started in Reception (can Bosbury veterans work out which six they are from the above picture...?), but this has provided the opportunity to create many great new friendships all along the journey through primary school, with the pupils who only joined Bosbury a year or two ago also being made to feel very at home.

In a very emotional final assembly of the school year, Mr. Thompson reflected on what has been achieved by this superb group of nineteen children which features such a diverse range of talents, personalities and skills. They will be remembered in particular for their great academic abilities, superb confidence as was very evident on stage during their terrific performances of Oliver!, brilliant sporting abilities which culminated in the class winning the cluster schools rounders tournament, as well as their lovely nurturing bonds developed with their buddies in Class 1.

Of course, no final week in Year 6 at Bosbury would be complete without the now-traditional water fight, with the very warm weather this year providing the ideal conditions for clothes to dry out relatively quickly - even those worn by a certain Class 5 teacher and one or two hapless teaching assistants who inadvertently strayed into the battlefield as they became prime targets for the Super Soakers!

Mrs. Price, who has been a regular at the Bosbury school gates for fourteen years now as her children Matthew, Beatrice, Joseph and now Joshua have gone through the school paid her own great tribute to Bosbury at the Leavers' Assembly which can be read HERE towards the bottom of the page along with all of the other memories which the Year 6 children wrote about their time at Bosbury for their leavers' book, and along with the lovely new playground bench shown below (which Matthew has guaranteed us will last for at least ten years!), the Year 6 leavers group and their parents have very kindly given us a brilliant leaving gift of several new pieces of playground equipment for current and future Bosbury pupils to enjoy.

Also shown in the picture is the Year 6 leavers' tea party which was held outside for the first time on the Key Stage 2 playground as full advantage was taken of the stunning sunshine which has continued to grace us this summer.

We wish all of our Year 6 children all the very best for the future - we will miss you all hugely but we know that you will be utterly superb and will have much to bring to your new schools. Please come and visit us soon as we can't wait to hear all about your experiences and success at 'BIG' school!

Good luck also to Ollie, Joseph, Martha and Guy who are also sadly leaving us at the end of term - well done on being so brilliant at Bosbury and we hope that you are very happy at your new schools.

To finish, here is but a small (yes, small!) selection of the best moments from our Year 6 leavers over the last seven years, as shown much to the delight of many of the younger children on a slideshow during the leavers' assembly.

How many of them can our Year 6 children remember...?
