Class 4 Begin Poetry Benches Project

Class 4 were out and about in Bosbury last week with clipboards in hand as they worked with poet Sara-Jane to gain inspiration and ideas for some pieces of poetry based on various locations around the village such as the church, village hall, bowling green, Old Boys' School and even a visit to the local pub!

This week then saw each group working with Sara-Jane to put the ideas that they had written on to strips of coloured paper together to create poems based on the locations which they had visited and the features they contained, and there were many superb examples of literary features like alliteration, similes, metaphors and personification which really added some wonderful description to their pieces of writing. You'd be amazed how intriguing and detailed you can make even a simple village noticeboard or village hall front door sound through using such descriptive techniques!

Sara-Jane then took all of the strips of paper home ready to type up each group's poem. What are they going to be used for? Ah, that would be telling! Find out soon!
