A Short but Sweet (and very Snowy!) World Book Day
World Book Day took a rather unexpected twist at Bosbury School this year as the day unfortunately had to be cut short due to deteriorating weather conditions, but even the threat of heavy snow didn't stop the children and staff making the most of a packed morning full of exciting book-themed activities.
Each class spent a session in turn with several special visitors as everyone worked frantically to fit as much as possible into the morning before the school had to close at 1:00pm due to the looming amber weather warning, and the children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a Hereford Courtyard Theatre workshop with Becky, making their own coloured salt illustrations with local artist Suzanne of Bosbury mural fame, as well as the extra special treat of listening and taking part in a terrific story told by the amazing storyteller Peter Chand.
And the costumes, oh the costumes! As well as the impressive number of Wallies, Wandas and Whitebeards as shown above, pictured below is just a small selection of the many wonderful characters who attended school that day across each class.
There were Harry Potters, Hermione Grangers, Peter Rabbits, Cat in the Hats, Willy Wonkas, Fantastic Mr. Foxes, Gangsta Grannies, Diary of a Wimpy Kids and much much more, with even the staff getting in on the act!
Many more photos from the day will soon be available to view under the Gallery section of the website. You may even find some characters sneaking in to this week's awards photos as well!
A huge thank you to Mrs. Wilesmith for arranging and then rearranging such a successful morning under the strict time pressure imposed by the weather, as well as all of our special visitors on the day who made the effort to travel to school in far from ideal conditions in order to make World Book Day 2018 an extremely enjoyable event.
Not forgetting of course about our next door neighbours, well done also to all of the children and staff at Jack-in-the-Box Nursery who held a magnificent World Book Day celebration of their own with lots of amazing costumes with children even bringing in books of their own to read as well!
