Friends of Bosbury School (FOBS)

Parents and members of our local community have a key role in our school. They are responsible for raising significant funds, organising events and giving our pupils the opportunites to experience a wide range of additional activities.

Friends of Bosbury School (FOBS) is the team of volunteer parents who schedule, organise and publicise a timetable of fundraising activities and events for our families. Our Summer Fayre is the most fun - and challenging - event the team organises each summer and other regular events include: school children's discos, parents' quiz nights, children's film nights, a spring plant sale, family Bingo evenings and our festive Christmas Fayre.

The 100 Club is also run by FOBS. Every April, family members and friends are able to buy tickets that are entered into the monthly FOBS prize draw - an initiative that raises over £700 each year for our school with a £20 top prize, £10 second prize and two further prizes of £5.

The money raised by FOBS is used to support all of the children who attend Bosbury School through funding the cost of:
- Book bags
- Annual theatre trips
- Playground equipment
- Sports kit
- Musical instruments

Thank you to the current members of FOBS and for all the time they give to our school:
Helen Smith (Chairperson)
Jason Thomson (Vice Chair)
Jerry Anderson (Treasurer)
Gill Bolton (100
Club) - a BIG thank you to outgoing 100 Club Secretary Kelly Price for running the 100 Club so brilliantly over the last few years.
Katherine Kennedy & Victoria Dudley-Cooke (Secretaries)

Please let any of the team know if you have the time or expertise to help them.

FOBS KEY STAGE 1 AND 2 JANUARY FILM NIGHTS A BIG SCREEN SUCCESS!

Thank you to all of the children who attended the recent Key Stage 1 and 2 Film Night screenings of The Angry Birds Movie and The Peanuts Movie. You were all brilliantly behaved and we hoped you enjoyed watching the films with your friends and eating the yummy popcorn! Thank you also to Di Hall, Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Fitzpatrick for offering to be on first aid duties for the two evenings.

FOBS FUNDS CHRISTMAS PANTO AND NEW PLAY EQUIPMENT!

FOBS donated a large amount of money to the school recently to enable each child to once again see a Christmas pantomime in Cheltenham as a festive treat towards the end of the Autumn Term. Pictured above is outgoing FOBS Vice Chairman Mr. Jason Thomson presenting the cheque to Headteacher Maggie Spence, accompanied by four Key Stage 1 children proudly showing off their new book bags which the money raised by FOBS has also been able to provide.

Last week, the school also received a delivery of the new equipment for the Key Stage 1 playground which FOBS donated £3,000 for, including the black boxes for the smaller toys which are already up and running at lunchtimes with a different labelled box being used each day.

The new climbing frames have also been constructed following a short delay, and as you can see are already proving to be extremely popular with budding Key Stage 1 climbers!

Key Stage 2 will also be receiving two new pieces of equipment for their playground through a further £3,000 donation from FOBS, which will be ordered as soon as they have been selected and chosen by the School Council.

Thank you to everyone who attended the FOBS AGM for this academic year held just before half term. It was extremely well-supported with what is thought to be a record turnout. The committee are still keen for more volunteers to help out with fundraising events throughout the year, including the Christmas Fair due to be held on Friday 2nd December, so please speak to FOBS Chairperson Helen Smith if you are able to help out and support in any way.
